How do I fix my hair color disaster?

I'm almost 27 yrs old and have been coloring my hair since high school days. Just this past weekend I had my first unfortunate experience. Don't get me wrong. I'm not the type that colors their hair a different color weekly or even monthly. The last time I dyed my hair was about a year ago because I was pregnant and heard that chemical hair treatments and pregnancy don't mix. Anyways, I got the color I always get, which is L'Oreal Feria's chocolate cherry. Usually this color looks beautiful on me. This time, not so much. The top of my hair is a bright burghundy-brown and the ends are a blue-black. I tried to lighten it by dyeing it with a lighter red. It did the opposite and darkened it even more. So, FYI: those of you that are suggesting to lighten darker dyed hair with a lighter color or henna are so wrong. Is there a cheaper home remedy for stripping hair color and after I strip it what would be a good color to neutralize any orange? HELP! Goth is not a good look for me

Your best bet would be to bleach your hair and then select a chocolate brown for starters. Because you have to lighten it to get the previous colors out, bleaching is your only solution.

i think unless you can afford to go to a salon and get corrective coloring its just going to take time. Give it about a month. Anymore coloring is going to fry your hair. Definetley dont color it anymore. Good Luck

I know you are looking for an economical solution to this disaster, but if you bleach your hair, you are risking severe damage and an even bigger disaster. I suggest that you make an appointment with a highly recommended hair dresser. They are well trained to deal with these problems and although this may be expensive, it will be worth it to save your hair from further damage and the risk of having it fall out. Good luck with this!

Your best bet would be to get it fixed professionally at a salon. You already dyed it twice, more dyeing is going to cause more damage, but if you want it fixed correctly, you better get to a pro. I work at a salon and I have seen mistakes like this. They can almost always fix it, but sometimes the damage is too much and there is only so much they can do w/ out your hair breaking off. Also, you are probably not going to get the exact color you want since you have so much color on your hair already. Good luck! I never dye my own hair-I did once when I was 18; but now I ALWAYS go to the salon.

DO NOT BLEACH YOUR HAIR!!! It will turn it into 12 more different colors. My brother is a hair dresser. You need to go get a toner that they would use for after bleaching someone's hair. If you cannot find it in a drugstore then try an actual beauty supply store like Sally Beauty Supply

Do not Do not

Do not bleach your hair, that is crazy!!! prior pregnancy can do some crazy things to your body, after my sister had her baby she got a little wave in her hair, your body chemicals are different and that color may never work again. Also if you were on your cycle this could have affected the turn out. I am a licensed cosmetologist and I highly recommend going and getting it fixed by a professional. If the ends are black and you wanna fix it yourself you might just have to go goth.

Go to a salon!!!! Stop trying to fix it yourself, you can only make it worse and damage your hair while you're at it. Go to a professional and let them give you suggestions.
