At home hair color gone bad...?

I colored my hair last night and it is too dark, way too dark between a very dark brown and black. How long can I wait to color it again? I looked on all the various sites that offer at home color kits but not one stated how long you should wait, excpet color every 4-6 weeks for best root coverage. I have been coloring my hair for years at home and never had trouble until last night. I just want to go a couple shades lighter. I cannot go to a salon as DH is out of town and no one to watch the kids while I sit in a salon. I would like to just color it again once they are in bed...is it too soon?

No luv, your hair might fall out! It should say on the packet whether it's permanent or 6-8 weeks or whatever. I know over here in the UK you can get stuff to take the colour out, don't know what it's called and I've never tried it, but it's sold with all the hair colour products. If you can't find anything, maybe a hat to cover it and just wash your hair twice a day or something to try and wash it out a bit! Or tye your hair up and it might not too so bad! Good luck xx

you can re-dye it, but it would be hard to go lighter if it's already so dark.

I'd just wash it -- a lot.

go to the store and find PRELL shampoo and wash ur hair like 4 or 5 times in a row

then color it again the next day

Here's my experience with trying many different dyes. If the dye itself did not have any black in it, than it will light up within 3 weeks. Brown dye is very hard to get a nice color because it always appears to be too dark. You need to wait at least 2 weeks before redying. But I would hold off for 4 weeks to see if the color changes.

You can not lighten out hair color with other hair color. But for a non chemical, slight lightening try this. The specifics of the components are important. Do not substitute. Shampoo hair with Redken Hair Cleansing Cream and 6-8 crushed up Natural Vitamin C tablets. Leave mixture on hair and cover with plastic cap. Add heat from a blowdryer or steam towel for up to 45 min. Rinse out well. Can be repeated one more time. Condition well. When you do have someone to watch kids for a few hours, head to salon for a French shampoo. Best of luck.
