Hair color emergency?

ok I am coloring my friends hair and she is going from dark brown to medium blonde. And her roots turned out and her ends didnt. What did I do wrong? I used 40 and then medium blonde color from ion from sallys. I have gone back over it with 40 and a very light blonde from ian color. and its still not lifting. What can I do to fix this? please tell me what I did wrong so I can fix it. I dont want her to go around looken crazy.

You can't go from dark brown instantly to blonde. You have to gradually go frmo dark to light. Unless you're going to bleach it before you dye it. In this case there is nothing you can do for another week or so when it is safe to dye her hair again and dye it a little darker. Then wait until it's safe again to dye her hair without damaging (two to three weeks) and dye it a little lighter. Etc.

When your coloring hair that has not been colored before you put the color on the roots last becuase they lighten much faster.

This is a good example of why people should not color hair if they have no clue of what they are doing. I think your friend should go to a salon to have it fixed.

hair usually changes quicker at the root area because it gets heat from the scalp so all i can suggest is to only add the color

40 VOL IS PRETTY HARSH IF YOU HAVE DONE THIS 2X ALREADY HER HAIR IS GOING TO BE VERY DRY

I WOULD THINK MAYBE YOU COULD PULL IT THROUGH A CAP AND HILITE A FEW STRANDS SO THAT IT BLENDS IN WITH HER ROOTS BUT NOT ALOT OG HILITES YOU DONT WANT HER HAIR TO FALL OUT

OR YOU COULD TREAT HER TO A SALON VISIT WICH MAY BE SAFER
