I want to color my hair blondish gold. I can't seem to get my hair that light nor can i cover all the gray. I have been using Preference by Loreal. Is there a special hair coloring product especially made to cover stubburn gray hair? My hair is mousy gray/brown when not colored.
What is a good over the counter hair color product to fully cover stubburn gray?
I'd suggest something by Garnier or Herbal Essences (since you said you already used LOreal), just make sure the box says for 100% grey coverage. You should be good to go.

Oooh, blondish gold. Thats a hard one with gray hair. You going to have to go to a pro for that one. Box colors won't come out right, they'll come out too red. Check out your local beauty college!!!

my mom uses revlon colorsilk, she's between 25 and 50% gray and it covers that all up. however, she dyes it black, so i don't know if blond/gold would cover as well as black does. colorsilk does promise 100% gray coverage though, so its worth a try, but if you don't want to mess around and risk messing up your hair a lot, you should go to a professional.

Got a Little trick for you all and the hair dressers wont do it unless you ask because they want you to come back sooner for another Grey cover up..When you get your hair dye put the color from the tube on the Grey hair before you mix it with the peroxide.or developer. The white stuff is to lift color so color can be deposited.so Grey hair has no color to remove so you just need to put in the color.also leave it on the Grey for 15 minutes before you put on the mixed color

Grey hair is very resitant to color. It's really best to have a professional do this for you because they will be able to address all of the variables.
As far as L'Oreal hair color goes, Excellence is a better product overall for dealing with greys.
For really resistant hair there are a few tricks that could be done, in a salon setting... but they aren't that simple to explain, to really get a desired color effect. One of the easier tricks would be to use a higher volume of peroxide to lift an extra level, and to blast the cuticle of your hair... helpful if it is resistant. A higher volume creates some problems in other areas because you will be dealing with an additional amount of brassiness on darker areas of your hair.
I can't think of any specific products available in stores, but I know they are out there! You would look for things that say "ultra lightening" or something to that effect. It's usually in the blonde shades. In darker shades it would be more high intensity.
