You don't need to strip your color. Stripping is only effective if you are going from dark to light. Since you are trying to get your natural dark brown, all you would have to do is color over your existing color.

It is really hard to get a natural-looking dark brown when coloring over highlights. There are a lot of different factors that go into it. Color-treated hair is more porous and will take colors deeper than what you see on the box. Also there are different tones within a color number that could influence what your end result would look like (i.e. warm, neutral, cool.)

Not knowing the current condition of your hair, it has hard to recommend what over-the-counter product would be good for you. If you have been getting your hair done in a salon, I would bite the bullet and ask your colorist to do it since they are already familiar with your hair and how well it holds color.

Please also keep in mind that your hair might still fade over time and you would have to get touch-ups every now and again to avoid the two-tone look. Happy coloring!!

Just dye all your hair the color of your roots, so it does not look all weird. and just let it grow. Cut your hair often (just the ends that is) don't use straighteners, blowdryers, and curling irons too much either.

Since you have lightened your hair previously, you are going to have to use a filler, which is a semi-permanent color one level lighter than your natural, or the color you want to have. So if you are a natural level 6 brown, you would want to use a seven natural.. Put it in for 15-20 minutes then remove excess color with a towel, do not wash out. The use the color you are wanting to go, if your hair is a chocolate brown, you would want to use that. However if you have unnatural hues of color, you will want to counteract them with your filler. For instance if you have red shining through you would want to use the opposite.. a ash color. You are going to have to color you hair.. to make it look natural... then stop coloring. You will have problems with fading, since you pre lightened your hair, but the filler should help. This is a color correction, you should have a well respected stylist/colorist, help you, it can get complicated.

PLEASE do not strip ur hair. That damages it more than anything. The lighter color will not come out even w/ a stripper because u have taken color out already. The only thing u can do is color over it. U will probably need a filler before coloring though to get the color to stay in. If u don't want to color it all in u could get low lights put in the color of your roots to make it look natural as it's growing out w/out having to go for a drastic change all at once.

You need a FILLER before they apply you brown color in. I had it don't a fiem months ago to give my hair a break from highlights. I cant even see the root line. Don't use box hair color!!! Its what gives you that reddish fryed look.lol Just get them to do the filler and your natural brown its worth the money and last forever...
