Hair color obssession?????

My daughter has an obssession with hair color and we can't figure out why she continues to keep coloring her hair when her aunt, who is a hairdresser, and I keep warning her that her hair is damaged and she is about to lose all of it. It has broken off and looks horrible. She has just colored it 3 times in the last 5 days. I feel that it is covering up for something that is bothering her but we can't get her to open up. Has anyone else had experience with this or has any suggestions???? Please help.

She is trying to find her identity still, I went through that and fried all my hair off when I went porno blonde, too much bleach I guess:) funny thing is that I am licensed too, HAHA. she hasnt found what she likes about herself or her hair. Great hair can change someones feelings about themselves. find something really great, if not she will do it the hard way.

Remind her that celebrities have hair peices and extentions and have professionals do them. If she wants blonde use sun in, it will be fun to gradually change your looks everyday too, use clip on hair peices, Please save her:) My hair is finally long again, I had to cut it an inch around I cried

Well I don't think if you warn her that she will have her hair turn gray because of it will help. So I think you are doing the best you can. Maybe you could try punishing her or threaten her to make her stop.

maybe you need to get some help from her firends, explain the problem and ask them to tell her that she looks better without coloring her hair. fashion is going towards naturals anyway so maybe that way you can convince her.

Don't make a big issue out of it, the more she calls for attention the more she will do it.

She is in a difficult age and doesn't even understand herself. Try to be there for her put don't make a big deal about the hair, she will probably get over it soon.

From personal experience, I've done the same thing she is doing. I would dye it black, bleach it 2 days later, dye it neon pink, then blue, then black again... eventually a chunk of my hair that i bleached a few times turned into "spaghetti" it would stretch a few inches and snap... but, with good conditioning and everything, my hair is fine. Sure, it's a lot of damage, but if she wants to do it, so what? It's her hair, she's finding herself, and having fun with it. I wouldn't worry about it until she dyes your hair.

I dye my hair but not every 3 days oh my word that's a lot!!!! I use damage treatment shampoo and conditioner and my hair is fine but I also only dye my hair every 2 months or longer. your her mother if she wont listen to the fact it's damaging her hair tell her it's damaging your wallet if your buying that much dye all the time!! also get her some treatment shampoo and conditioner

tell her that if she dyes her hair anymore this week shell go bald and then shell have to be obsessed with wigs. it is so not healthy to dye ur hair even twice in one week. as for covering up for something, does she have a bf, maybe she got dumped and doesnt feel pretty, or maybe she just didn't like the results of her hair color, if thats the case, offer to take her to a professional to try and get it fixed, DO NOT LET HER DYE HER HAIR ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!! if shes in YOUR house using YOUR utilities to do this dont let her

Well you could tell her that her hair is going to fall out..and that it looks horrible..that would make me stop haha...but you've probably already done that...maybe you should get her someone to talk to...honestly tho she isnt really putting herself in any REAL danger so if she keeps doing it and her hair falls out...she will have to deal with that..and she probably wont ever do it again...but she could move onto something more serious...it seems like she does have issues ....i dont dye my hair i never have so i dont know but...maybe there is something that isnt permanent that she can just play around with alot of diff colors...

thats normal she is sad from something %26amp; she feel ugly try to make her self look better with the color some 1 hurt her i think , just keep telling her ur pretty like that dont change it , try to bring her friends over %26amp; go out shopping with her that could help

You could try to make her an appointment to a good hairstylist that could try an explain to her what color works best for her figure,tip of skin ,eyes and so on.Maybe she needs someone ,other then family ,to make her see what she should do to keep a pleasant attitude and style by just using one color or two, the most!
