Is there any hair color that will dye OVER my black hair color?

i dyed my hair black a couple weeks ago and i want to dye it back a reddish color and my natural hair color is dark brown. Is there any type of hair color that turns black hair into another color? thanks.

sorry black is extremly hard to get out.. its a hairdressers nightmare when someone needs black out of their hair unless they have the right products to do it which will be to srtip it out... then get it colored again...good luck!!

Right now the black color of you hair is a dye. You will have to strip your hair of the dyed color. Since your last dye job was only a couple of weeks ago this will be hard on your hair. I would suggest letting your hair have a rest before stripping it and dyeing it again. Hair can only stand so much abuse.

No the only way youll get rid of black color, is by stripping it, and you will need to either go to a pro hair supply, or go to a salon and get it done. Black hair dye is the worst to get rid of, that and red..It may take bleaching it.

uhm well.. i dyed my hair black..

you should of never did that.

i used bleach,, like hair bleach and it still didnt take out the black it kept turning my hair different colors like red orange yellow and then white in some places cause i tried bleachin it plenty of times.

finally afer a certain point, i let it grow out and then i cut it.

but nothing will dye over black.

if you color in a black marker or crayon, and color over it with another marker/crayon, you cant see that color.

black is impossible to dye over.

good luck

Unless you either bleach it out first or use a hair-dye-removal product (such as Elimin 8), you really won't have much luck putting another color on top of the black as the black dye will still be in your hair.

Best, of course, to have a pro do it, as these processes can really damage your hair. But I've found that when going from a darker to a lighter color, using a highlighting kit -- even Revlon Frost and Tip, for example -- can go a long way toward achieving a lighter look at home.

Sall's does carry a high-lift brown product that might be worth a try. For some great firsthand knowledge of hair color products, go to makeupalley.com. I always find great info there.
