I used Level 3 permanet for all the colors. About 3 weeks ago I colored my hair a "Medium Amber Brown" the one that I have used for like 6 months. I got a haircut (one that I don't like that much) and I wanted to change it up. I got a "Medium Auburn" color that I wanted and colored it. It turned nasty. It was the color it was supposed to be on the ends and up through to the top of my ears, but on the top it was an odd, brassy, orange color. I got back into the shower and washed it twice, but it didn't do anything. I had NO roots, since the last coloring was so close to this one, having lighter roots was the only thing I could think to have caused it. So anyways, it was HORRIBLE, so I had a "Medium Golden Brown" on hand, so I dyed it again, leaving the roots on for longer to get rid of the brassy color. After ALL of that, I have a very dark auburn that gets a little redder at the roots, not quite my style. I can't strip it down because of the condition of it, I want BROWN! HELP!!!!

Hair Color From Hell?
I ruined my hair a few years ago trying to do highlights myself...I ended up looking like a leopard, it was awful. You best bet....go to a professional for corrective coloring. Check the yellow pages. It might be a little pricey, but if you continue to use the store bought stuff and try fixing yourself you could do more damage and still not get the desired results.

well. it sounds like you have a mess on your hands. my best advice is to go to a salon and ask them to fix it. Or if you dont want to pay that much for professional help, go to a beauty school where you dont pay *as much* and not only will it be a learning experience for you, but for someone who's learning to do hair professionally. good luck! :)

i had this problem also when i wen through a wierd hair dyeing phase, the thing is, my hair was turquoise and purple and every other color of the rainbow. Brown hair color, now, would turn a color you won't like. dye your hair black and let it grow out. i know it's gonna suck but that's what happens when hair is dyed a lighter color than normal.

Your going to have to use a demi permanent hair color to fix it.You don't need to use regular permanent hair color, permanent color lightens and deposits color at the same time, that is why you keep getting the brassy tones. The demi color will just deposit color. Good luck PS. Don't use black like the person above me suggested. A brunette shade will work fine.
