What hair color is best for a tan complexion with pink undertones?

My natural hair color is a very plain medium brown. (I call it field mouse brown). I just finished growing it out after years of beaming blondeness. I have light blue eyes, and I have a medium tan, and my skin has pink /red undertones to it. What I want is a dark, dark brown. But I'm not sure that color is right for me. I've seen women with that color who have olive complexions, and they look stunning. The one demi color I have my eye on is by Matrix in the chocolate cherry collection...it has a red base. Would that look good on me? I don't want to dye my hair a color and end up looking like a corpse, nor do I want a color that makes my face look beet red. If you don't think dark brown is the way to go, then do you know what will work?

I think highlights would do best accompanied by lowlights as well. I have them and get several compliments on the results. You hair color sounds the about the same as mine. Happy coloring...

a color similar Eva Longeria will suit you....a brown with several different color highlights (strawberry blonde, bronze like, etc.) more highlights in the front...will bring out your eyes..

Don't dye your hair - there are so many studies now that show it is so carcinogenic. I understand your feelings about looking professional, though. Go to a very good salon, and talk to them about what they can do with highlights (don't know what lowlights are!). Don't go an extreme colour, or anything. God gave you the colour he did for a reason!

you could do a mud flap. It when a darker color takes up the bottom half of your hair.( you could do a darker brown) and then have the same brown hi-lighted into the rest of your hair. you wil of course need another color like a shade of blond to also highlight into the highlighted brown. It's a great hair style and it's professional and still classy, sexy, and in style...Good luck and have fun!!!

there are so many colors. just find one that is closest to your natural color; have a little fun with it, and get blonde or red highlights (watch out, some of them can be very red); if you're going to do it yourself something close to brown is your best bet. if you want to go more blonde, i'd get a professional.

If you have fair skin.. you need to stay away from black and any browns that is extremely dark, unless you do it profressionaly and have highlights done through it... another thing you can do is an under %26amp; high Light done. Then you can have two colors.. THis always when done right is beautiful.

Well you dont want to go too dark with light complexion and not too light as it will look fake. Try just dyeing a shade darker than your normal color and highlight with caramel color. That would look good and professional.

with out seeing you it is hard to advise a color... but things to keep in mind before coloring... Once you color you need to maintain, that means every 2-3 months getting a touch up. all over color is the easiest..and cheapest, but highlight and low lights can make dull hair shimmer, and help to hide the gray. I think if you go to your stylist and ask her/his opinion, he/ she will be more than happy to work with you to find the best color option.

I agree with a copper or burnish color.but it is the hardest to keep from fading.. highlights would be good too...the one thing to remember about color is....all over color will show a demarcation line sooner that highlights...semi-color will cover the gray but less intensely than the brown hair...making subtle highlights and less noticeable roots...all that being said.....I would a least choose a color that say "warm" or "golden"...... fair skin could use the warmth and it will pick up your eyes!!!

It would look best to cover grays with your natural color. That also makes sure roots don't show, which will look very professional.

My natural hair color is dark brown. I went to a new salon and the hair stylist applied dark brown hair dye only to the top 3-4 inches of growth for about 45 minutes.Then he combed it through the bottom 10 inches for the last 5 minutes. When it was all done and over the top 3-4 inches of my hair is dark brown and the rest is a light orangey brown. I would like to have my hair all one color. Should I choose a hair dye of a shade inbetween the two colors and hope that evens it all out?

Being a cosmetologist, I am trying to picture what you are describing. Did you have color on it before and there was regrowth? If the color was dark brown I'm trying to understand how they got light orangey brown. Was that part highlighted before?

If you are looking for all one color... to match your natural hair color, there was no reason to leave it on the roots that long before pulling it through.

I agree with the others... go somewhere else.... Or go back (just to a different stylist) and tell them to fix it right. You shouldn't have to pay for their mistake.

I really really like the red! The black is good also. But I think the red is by far the best! I don't think you need to wear much make up. Your young and have very nice skin i wouldn't cover it up with a heavy base. Hey have you tried any of the mineral make up? The powder is really nice and will make you have a natural glow.

The red, it lightens up your face and makes it glow unlike the black which kinda sucks the life and creativity out of you. definently red!!

Definitely the red. The blonde sort of washes out your skin (though it could be the lighting of the picture) and makes you look older than the other pictures show you to be. Jet black or a warm deep brown would also look gorgeous I think. Good luck and have fun!

I originally have dark brown hair(almost black), n i just dyed my hair to dark orangey/reddish brown around 2 weeks ago. So now im thinking of mixing on a bright funky purple color (using Special effects product from haircrazy.com) onto my hair. Will it look good with my current hair color or should i dye the rest with jetblack/darkbrown? N i know i should bleach the part i want to put the purple on. Will it be hard to bleach according to my natural hair color n the dye i put on?

Should i dye all of my hair with black/darkbrown first, n then bleach the part i want to put the purple on?

Or should i do it individually? (bleach the some parts, dye some parts)

I have a friend who dyed her hair black and has purple streaks, it looks v gd. i think u should dye your hair black because it sounds to me like it would go better with the purple than what you have now. and yes bleaching black hair is difficult but it can be done. Alternatively you could find some good quality purple extensions and cut them to match your hair length, this would be better as bleaching isn't good for your hair at all.

scince u have blond hair it is very likely that it will wirk on your hair. However, it did not work on my hair scence it is medium brown. If you have long hair you will need two boxes like I did. I only had one box so it did not turn out so good.

Dying my hair funky colors?

i dont want to completely dye my hair, but im going to get my hair colored at some salon for the first time so i want some advice...can you tell me how i could get my hair colored, meaning the style and position, and what colors i could use? i have dark brown hair and i want to dye it some funky color, not some lighter brown or blonde :P

and also, since im new to all of this, if youre going to describe how i should i apply the color, could you either describe with extreme detail or add a pic? THANKS SO MUCH :D

Well I cant answer most of what you want to know, all I can do is offer some minor tips I have learned.

First off Color removes Color. You are likely to get some on your skin or scalp... It is very hard to wash off most of the time. So keep the little bit you have left that you did not put in your hair. Rub that into the spots where it has stained your skin before you wash it out. It can lift the pigment up and you will not be stained as bad or even not at all in some cases.

Pick up some good rubber gloves, not those cheap plastic ones that come with some dyes, they can leak...

Keep it way away from the eyes, not worth a chance.

Some people have allergys, even a minor one. Eathing things high in potasium like bananas can increase that bad reaction. So avoid that for 24 hrs befor useing the color. I have a minor one and know to take a benidryl about an hr before hand so I will not have any reaction at all.

Just remember if you do something weird then you may not be able to cover it up if you decide you dont like it.

Alot of this is for you doing your own. But think about the reaction and allergys.
